Shocking Discovery at the Wilderness Trail

Our every day walk allows us not only the opportunity to maintain a healthy life style but also to bask on the beauty of our small town. There is no pollution, the roads are clean, and there are trails where we can walk without worrying on getting hit by cars.

That’s the luxury that I enjoy the most living here in the United States. Thus, I was deeply saddened last week when we visited this place (July 27) and found a shocking discovery. We’ve been to this area several times and we never saw it in this condition. Soda cans, plastics, and other forms of garbage were thrown in the small body of water. It was a flagrant disregard to the no littering signs all over which left us the question, why?

We saw several soda cans floating on the water. :(
At closer look, that thing at the right corner looks like a tupperware.
Bottles were everywhere.

I simply could not believe that it was the same place where we used to watch fish and turtles. The water was so filthy we could not see anything except garbage.

  1. More people should be concern on this matter. Pollution is one of the biggest problem for us right now.

    1. Yes. I just never saw a place like this here in United States because they have quite a strict policy on littering.

We have the same problem with littering and pollution in Northern Virginia. I try to always pick up trash when I see it!

    1. I saw quite a number of people doing this. They just simply spend weekends picking up trashes along the road.

  3. It's disgusting and lazy as far as I am concerned. There is not excuse for littering and it affects local wildlife which is awful.

    1. Definitely. There's no excuse for such behavior.

  4. Trust me pollution is a biggest concern especially in India. What hurts the most is I have seen people who hardly care. 😔

    1. It isn't really that bad here. Muskegon in Michigan is one of the cleanest place I've been here in United States.

  5. This is truly disappointing and yet not at all surprising. Where I'm from in Florida people have absolutely no regard for the environment and so behavior like this no longer surprises me. What actually surprises me these days is going to a clean park with no litter or going to a park with recycle bins. It's so sad how much people can suck in terms of caring for the environment.

  7. This is sad, and I always expect people from the US are more concerned about the environment than people here in my country Philippines, where most people are uneducated about protecting the environment.

    1. Believe me, the problem with garbage here is far less serious than the rest of the world. :)

  8. I hate seeing things like this! People can be so irresponsible. If everyone cleaned up after themselves it would be so much easier! :(

    1. I know. We have a feeling that those who did this are probably kids.

This is so sad to see. I don't understand how people can treat natural places like this. It really is irresponsible.
